What is a U-Pod?

leave a comment »

I had never heard of a U-Pod until recently, when our Marketing Manager put it into the timetable for the Social Enterprise Conference Wales 2011. And I couldn’t even guess what it was from the name!

A U-Pod is an event or forum where entrepreneurs (or freelancers or anyone else with an idea) can put their idea, proposal or business plan to other people in the same field. In our case it will be an hour-long session as part of the conference in November, and the field will be social enterprise.

It is a collective review process where the more experienced members of the group can offer their advice and suggestions, and the whole group can comment on if they think the idea ‘has legs’.

We will split our delegates into groups so each entreprenuer will present their idea to a small number of people rather than to the whole conference. Each delegate will be able to listen to and give feedback to one entrepreneur during the session.

We have already received some interesting proposals that will be included in the conference.

The U-Pod will take place on Day 2 of the conference only – Thursday 17th November 2011.

If you’d like to take part, either as a delegate or if you have an idea to put forward to the U-Pod, then please visit the conference website to book a place – Social Enterprise Wales Conference 2011.

The deadline for U-Pod applications is Wednesday 2nd November.

On your booking form, please clearly outline your:

  • Business idea
  • The number of people involved
  • The social aims of the enterprise

If you have any queries, please contact the organisers at the Wales Co-operative Centre:
